Fish with Capt. Wade Wells at The Mexican Gulf Fishing Company. $2,300 + fuel per day for a blue water, offshore charter in the Gulf of Mexico out of Venice, LA. Fuel average is 250 gallons per day.
Capt. Wade looks forward to having you on board his 37-foot Freeman.
Wade has won and placed in a number tournaments, and truly enjoys showing his customers a memorable trip through his incredible passion for fishing in the bountiful waters of the Gulf of Mexico.
Wade was raised in Mississippi and Florida, but knew almost all along that he wanted to run offshore charters out of Venice. When asked why, he says, … "because Venice is one of the world’s best fisheries. It is THE Spot for yellowfin tuna, and that is sort of my game."
Wade also loves to put his customers on wahoo , and relishes an opportunity to help charters land their first blue marlin.
He says, "Venice fishing is not only known for the large variety of species, but also for the size of the fish too! People come down here from everywhere and they're always thrilled to see the Blue Waters of the Gulf of Mexico and realize they didn't have to fly international to get to a gorgeous, deep blue fishery."
Anglers come to the Gulf for Yellowfin Tuna, Mahi Mahi (Dolphin), Cobia, Wahoo, varieties of Grouper, Red Snapper, Blackfin Tuna, Amberjack, Shark, and marlin. Capt. Wade has experience putting customers on all those fish. Offshore charters with MGFC include — but are not limited to — fishing the permanent oil rigs, which act as reefs for marine life, fishing the floaters, which are moving oil platforms, fishing the Lump, or trolling behind the shrimp boats when in season. Book online with Capt. Wade Wells. You'll be hooked, for sure. Note: A 4% processing fee is charged on all credit card orders. Charter trips are booked online and secured with a credit card. Deposits must be paid by credit card. Balances on each trip may be paid by cash or credit card. Pay your captain on the day of the trip, at the dock. If cancelled by weather, send an email to scottymac@mgfishing.com — and request a new trip date. There is no need to rebook online, include your order number in the email. $2,300 + fuel per day - Book a trip with Captains Joseph Morgan on the f/v Wild Thing. Fuel average is 250 gallons per day.
Capt. Joseph Morgan's family had a camp when he was young, and one day, his dad bought a boat, and started chartering it. Joseph has been inshore fishing in and around Venice since he was a kid, and started fishing on charter vessels in 2016. Says Joseph: "I like live baiting for tuna, but my personal favorite is dropping for grouper, and tile fish. Marlin fishing really gets me going. When we can target them it’s a lot of fun." I've got a saying, said Joseph: “trust the process. Even though things can turn around on a light switch. Keep an open mind coming into it. We’ve got the skill and the mentality to give it our all, and every day holds the potential for great fishing. Not every day can bring us good fish, but we can promise you a good time.”
Why MGFC? Joseph says: Best in Venice; best in the US Gulf. Why Freeman? Freeman boats give us a distinct and outright advantage. "The live well system, storage, visibility — all that helps in what we’re able to do in a day-in/day-out basis, customers might not be able to put their finger on it, but these things add up, and help us to deliver a superior charter experience." Captain Cameron has been fishing in Louisiana and Mississippi all his life, and fishing professionally as a licensed charter Captain since 2020. Fish with Captain Cameron, and we're sure you'll have a great time. Cameron has a passion for fishing, especially offshore fishing, and knew he just had to make it his career, and that's why he joined MGFC … "you want to be the best, you have got to fish with the best in the business," he says. Cameron says, "I have a love of fishing, and the outdoors, and just knew I wanted to show people what a full experience offshore can be like."
He came to MGFC on the recommendation of Capt. Paul Miller, our lead inshore program guide.
Hired for a trial as a deckhand, Cameron swiftly rose to the ranks of Captain, and now runs a 37-ft Freeman. "I grew up hearing about Venice, and dreaming about it, once the opportunity came up for a job with MGFC, I jumped at the chance," he says.
Cameron's advice for new customers: Don’t be scared. You can fight these fish, you can handle it. We’re going to help you out in every way. Don’t be scared that you’re not strong enough, too old, or too young — we’ve got you.
Advice for returning customers: the variety of fish in Venice is awesome. I recommend sword fishing, mangrove snapper is great fishing. There’s more on offer than just tuna. Be open to trying other things — mix it up, try something different.
Cameron says, there's "two things I can guarantee on a charter: we will try our best, and we are going to have a good time while doing it." Book trips today, and experience offshore fishing with MGFC.
Note: A 4% processing fee is charged to all credit card orders. Charter trips are booked online and secured with a credit card. Deposits must be paid by credit card. Balances on each trip can be paid in full, at the time of booking with MGFC. Or, balance may be paid by cash or credit card directly to your captain on the day of the trip — at the dock. Deposits are non-refundable. Deposits on weather cancelled trips, or on trips which customers choose to cancel more than 31 days in advance of the scheduled trip date are available for transfer, those funds are valid for one year from the original trip date. $2,500 + fuel per day - Book a trip with Captain Colin Byrd on a 42ft Freeman Fuel average is 250 gallons per day, pay price at the dock
Captain Colin Byrd first fished as a 5 year old boy, and says he was charged by the experience on the very first cast. He caught his first sailfish at he age of 12 while on a family trip to Mexico, and says he knew from that moment he would be a life long fisherman, and that offshore was "his thing."
Colin is a charter captain with a 50-ton Masters license. He's fished as a 1st mate, and as a captain on many charter boats and private yachts. He's a seasoned vet of the MGFC team with years of experience at the helm, and in blue water.
Fish with Colin Byrd, and you'll see what it means to go the extra mile. Never content to shrug shoulders, or stop. Colin says, "I'm here for you. That is what I do. We'll fish, we'll keep an open mind, and we'll come back with broad smiles on our faces from having good camaraderie and a great day at sea." Note: A 4% processing fee is added to all credit card orders. Deposits must be made online, and paid by credit card. Balances on each trip may be paid by cash or credit card. Pay your captain, day of the trips, at the dock.
Fees include the guided trip plus all fishing tackle, bait, ice for the fish box on the boat, and fish cleaning at the dock Colin's favorite trips come in two styles. The first is when he has a defined target by his customers, and they're able to nail that target to the wall. The 2nd is when things go slightly awry. Fish as slow that day, target species just aren't there, perhaps he has bad weather to avoid, but with quick thinking and an open mind, he puts customers on fun fishing, and with necessity being the mother of invention — what once looked bleak comes up all action and overflowing ice chests.
Captain Colin's 3 tips for offshore success:- be prepared and pay attention to details
- keep an open mind and remember to have fun
- live life AND live it to the fullest
Colin's promise to anglers is this, “you let me worry about the first one above. I am 100% dedicated to being on the water. I fish weekends so you can come down on the days most convenient to you. Sit back, stand up, joke around and have fun. Keep an open mind and go with the flow of things. I've got the details covered, just listen up and live life through the thrilling experience of a blue water charter."
His favorite species include: yellowfin tuna, wahoo in the winters, and big blue marlin.
In fact, ask him about that one Blue Marlin from few years ago at the World Billfish Championships.

$2,500 + fuel per day - Book a trip with Captain Zach Joseph on a 42ft Freeman Fuel average is 250 gallons per day, pay price at the dock
Captain Zach Joseph first fished as a young boy while living along the shores of the Mississippi Sound. His dad was in the Navy, and the family always lived near the water. They settled in Ocean Springs, MS, and that's where he says he first knew he would do something related to fishing for the rest of his life. It started out with wade fishing, then small boats, and by the time he made his first trip offshore, the hook already had been set … young Zach was on his way to one day becoming Captain Zach. He worked on crew boats, supply boats, and in shipyards. Those experiences got him on the water, but that wasn't fishing, and that's what he really wanted to do. So … Zach found an opportunity to work as a deckhand on an offshore charter vessel; he loved it more than he had even imagined, and set his sights to become a licensed charter captain. He's been fishing offshore out of Venice for 10 years. He first started fishing with MGFC as a 1st Mate to Capt. Colin Byrd, and now he runs one of our 42ft Freemans. "I came on with MGFC because I like the fact they strive to be the best," says Zach. "There’s no hidden content behind it — what you see is what you get. They just want to be the best, and … I get to work on a Freeman!"He says, its that drive where each member on the MGFC team "strives to do what's best — even on days that aren't working out — where customers take notice. "Customers come down on vacation or they might be taking clients, so it’s important for us to show people a good time no matter what conditions we encounter. That's what keeps me going, I want to give it my all — every day."
Fish with Zach, and you'll see what it means to go the extra mile. He's never content to shrug shoulders, he is always willing to ask: OK, what else? The goal for Zach is to put smiles on customers' faces, and to earn respect for doing right by them. He says: "let's go out and have a good day." Trips with Capt. Zach are $2,500 + fuel per boat, per day. His 42ft Freeman catamaran holds up to six passengers.
Note: A 4% processing fee is added to all credit card orders. Deposits must be made online, and paid by credit card. Balances on each trip may be paid by cash or credit card. Pay your captain, day of the trips, at the dock. Fees include the guided trip plus all fishing tackle, bait, ice for the fish box on the boat, and fish cleaning at the dock So what does an ideal day look like to Capt. Zach?
An ideal day would be able to go out there and whack the fish real quick. On the days that doesn’t happen, I hope at the end of every day they see the work ethic that we just put in for them.

Whenever Chad is asked: What makes a good trip? His reply is consistent, "it's all about the possibilities. Just look at this fishery we have in Venice, Louisiana. We have access to, and we can go after 15-16 species of fish. I tell people, be open, communicate what it is you want to do, and I'll let them know what's possible. On most days — almost anything is possible out here. That's what makes it so great." Charter trips are $2,300 + fuel per day. Each boat holds up to six passengers. Captain Chad's tips for offshore success:- fish with MGFC
- ask what's possible; look for opportunities
- fish from a Freeman, "these boats really are the best."
Chad says he knew he wanted to be a fishing guide following his first offshore trip. "I wasn't built to be in a cubicle," says Chad. When asked why MGFC, and why Freemans? He says, "because both are simply the best. With us, you get a team of guys who work well together, and who have been doing so for many years. We share ideas, we share knowledge, we share tips, and spots. With Freeman because they're the real deal: No one is on top of each other when you fish from a Freeman, it's a great ride with plenty of stability. Freemans rock!" $2,500 + fuel per boat, per day - Book a trip with Captain Kyle Gray on the Pale Horse Fuel Average is 250 gallons per day, pay price at the dock. Captain Kyle has been fishing the blue waters of the Gulf of Mexico all his life. A native to the area, he's been fishing professionally since 2010, but he has been a fixture on the Gulf since childhood when he first began fishing with family and friends.
"I have fishing from the Atlantic coast to the Pacific coast, and everywhere in between," says Kyle. "When it comes to fishing here in Venice, I bring decades of knowledge and experience to the table. That being said — there isn't a guide out there that can make a fish bite when they don't want to, but I can promise I put in 110% effort every day, and I do bring the skill and knowledge to put your charter group on the fish. And that's what you want when you're looking for a successful charter." To Kyle, he says it is all about "the ability to pivot. You've got to be willing to go with the flow, change things up when weather or sea conditions change, and know when to move on to that next spot in an effort to keep things fresh and fun." He says fishing the oil rigs off the coast of Venice is some of the finest fishing grounds around. "the sheer variety of fishing just south of the Mississippi Delta is unsurpassed." To his point, there's yellowfin tuna (available year round), wahoo, marlin, swordfish, grouper, and snapper. Throw in the ability to go after other species such as mahi-mahi, cobia, tarpon, and golden tile, and you've got a year-round fishery that offers the best from a wide range of fishing styles and types of fish — so you can see all the Gulf of Mexico has to offer. What does Capt. Kyle offer? He offers day trips on a Freeman Catamaran, fishing with the Mexican Gulf Fishing Company, which is known wide and far as the largest, and most relentless "go getting" charter fishing company in Louisiana. And the best part? All of this action is just a short ride south of New Orleans, then a short boat ride out from Venice, LA to the most fertile and productive fishing grounds in the U.S. Note: A 4% processing fee is added to all orders. Captain Matt Miranda grew up in Metairie, Louisiana, and spent plenty of time fishing the salt marshes and bayous which surround New Orleans, and South Louisiana. From his earliest days of fishing on the shores of Lake Pontchartrain, to his first trips in a bay boat, and now as a licensed captain running in the deep blue waters of the Gulf of Mexico, one thing was sure to Matt, "these fishing trips we all take, it's about making life long memories."And life long memories is what you'll get when you book an offshore trip with Captain Matt. "Look, I'm here to help customers have a good time. I'm here to teach people what to look for, help them learn some technique, and to enrich their experience in a way that gives them memories that last," says Matt. "Best way for me to do that is deliver." On that note, Matt says if you book with him, he's got one phrase of advice for you when making your decision: "I'm a go big or go home, kinda guy. I like things fast, action packed, and loud. IF we're gonna do it; we're gonna do it. If you and your group are the kind of folks who like to cut up, and have a good time, I'm your captain. Let's roll."Matt has been a licensed charter captain running offshore trips in Louisiana, since 2015. He knows the Gulf of Mexico as well as anyone around, and he's got the skins on the wall, so-to-speak. "Biggest tuna I ever caught was a 258 lb yellowfin - it was a beast! And, everyone in the boat shared in that joy."
In addition to big yellowfin, Matt has hauled in plenty of swordfish, wahoo, and marlin. He made a name for himself pretty quickly, and has been an affable and constant fixture on the Venice fishing scene ever since. Customers who fish with Matt give high praise — "best trip ever," "What a fun guy!", "I had no idea how good this could get, but Wow! Matt really put us on the fish." When asked what's the best thing about fishing in Venice, Louisiana, Matt says it's the sheer variety of the fish. "We can go for everything from mangrove snapper to marlin in a day, and … it's tuna time, almost all-the-time." Note: A 4% processing fee is charged to all credit card orders.

- make the most of every day
- and go big or go home
Billy says his satisfaction comes from seeing the excitement, and smiles and exhaustion that come when clients defeat a big fish. Nothing compares to sinking the gaff into a large yellowfin tuna and seeing the beautiful contrast of streaming blood in cobalt blue water. Nothing beats catching large tuna, seeing the look on people’s faces as they wonder if the fish will ever stop and hearing, “I can’t believe a fish can pull that hard.”
