Captain Jordy Bloodsworth specializes inshore light tackle charter fishing from Venice, LA. Experience the best of Louisiana's saltwater marshes and bays. Rates: $1,000 (3 guests), $1,200 (4 guests) + fuel, and live bait

Welcome Aboard with Captain Jordy Bloodsworth: Capt. Jordy specializes in live bait, light tackle charter fishing from Venice, LA, and he's part of the team at MGFC.

Born in Chalmette, LA, and fishing since childhood, Capt. Jordy has a lifetime of experience in coastal waters.

He says: "I grew up hunting and fishing coastal waters and marshes of St Bernard and Plaquemines Parishes with my grandpaw and older brother, then fished competitively for 4 years in college as a member of the LSU Bass Fishing Team."

Jordy graduated of LSU with a bachelors degree in Renewable Natural Resources and a focus in Wetland Science. Go Tigahs! — right?!

After college — Jordy maintained his interest in the outdoors, and sought the perfect way to bring his degree studies into a career that gives him a first-hand, daily glimpse of the natural wonders of the Southern Louisiana wetlands that surround us.

Today, he brings that knowledge and passion to you … as he runs inshore fishing charters with a keen sense of the environment where we make our living.

"Ever since I can remember, it’s like fishing and the outdoors has been a part of me and who I am. It has followed me and played a very prominent role my whole life. No matter what I try or where I go, fishing seems to appear as an answer. It is, really what I am driven to do."

When asked: Why Venice?

Jordy says: "The diversity that Venice offers is second to none. Anywhere. Being at the mouth of the Ms River and easily being able to fish the east and west sides of the river provides endless fishing options."

When asked: Why MGFC?

Jordy says: "The Mexican Gulf name is so well known and well respected, it’s a no brainer. I am extremely blessed and humbled to be a part of the team and to represent MGFC from an early point in my career. Everyone at MGFC wants and works to be the best and are often talked about in just that manner."

Meet Captain Hayden Theriot: Inshore Fishing Guide at MGFC

When it comes to inshore saltwater fishing in Venice, Louisiana, Captain Hayden Theriot is the man to know. Born and raised in Luling, Louisiana, Hayden's passion for fishing was ignited at a young age. He spent countless hours on the water with his father and grandfather, learning the ins and outs of Louisiana's unique coastal ecosystem and honing his skills as an angler.

From a young age, Hayden knew he wanted to be a professional fishing guide. He was drawn to the storied profession and the opportunity to make a living sharing his love of the sport with others. Throughout his life, Hayden has fished the bays, saltwater marshes, and nearshore waters of the Gulf of Mexico, developing a keen awareness of the ecosystem and a deep respect for the waters he calls home.

"What I like best about fishing out of Venice is the diversity of the species you can go for, and the different types of fishing days you can have," Hayden says.

"The way the Mississippi River dumps soil and nutrients into these salt waters makes for a unique, and unparalleled fishing environment. We can fish in almost any conditions, because we can always dash here or there, escape the most harsh winds, and hide in the many nooks and crannies of this massive bird foot delta down here."

Hayden runs his charters out of a 24-foot Blue Wave bay boat, powered by Yamaha.

He takes pride in providing his clients with a safe and comfortable fishing platform, and he's committed to putting in the effort necessary to ensure a successful day on the water. "You are in good hands with me," Hayden says.

"I was taught right, and I was taught to respect these waters. I'll pass that along to you, your friends, and family if you book charter fishing trips with me, and I can promise: You will see that I take pride in putting in a full effort."

Hayden chose to join the Mexican Gulf Fishing Company because of the outfit's reputation for excellence. "The name MGFC says it all," Hayden explains. "Captains Billy and Kevin built this company up, by working their way up on these same waters where I was raised. MGFC is recognized across the country, and around the world as being a well-run, professional outfitter, that knows how to treat customers, and that shows because customers have so much fun, they return to fish with Mexican Gulf — year-after-year."

When you book an inshore charter with Captain Hayden through MGFishing.com, you can expect a day filled with action, education, and memories that will last a lifetime. Hayden's extensive knowledge of the inshore waters, combined with his passion for sharing the sport he loves, make him the perfect guide for any group. From novice fishermen looking to land their first saltwater species to seasoned veterans looking for a challenge, … Hayden's warm personality and expert guidance will ensure that everyone on board has a blast.

At the end of each day, Hayden will clean and package your catch (please bring ziploc bags for the fish we clean), so you can take it home and enjoy. And with MGFishing.com's lodging options available, you can make your fishing trip a true getaway.

Fishing with Capt. Paul Miller

He is known for his congenial personality, and the cheerful attention he gives each customer. "Fishing is supposed to be fun, and I make sure we take care of that part first, every day" says Paul. Want to talk with him leading up to your trip? Call Paul at 228-219-7809, and note: All our captains call customers 2-3 days before each trip.

Fishing charters for anglers of any age — from beginners to experts are always welcome.

Book with Paul, and ask MGFC to accommodate your group. We can offer up to eight (8) additional boats, each day, year round … just let us know in advance, or by email when you place your order.

A native Mississippi — born in Ocean Springs — Paul grew up fishing offshore, and in southern estuaries at a young age. His earliest memory is a family trip made to Dauphin Island where he caught his first fish and says it was an absolute joy.

He began tournament fishing at 18, mostly offshore, and did well, but never lost a love for near shore fishing, and inshore salt marshes. He says "the biggest gratification in fishing (aside form the natural beauty of it all), is the simple fact that we get to bring home dinner, we eat what we catch."

Paul says his dad, a costal environmental engineer, is the one he credits with giving him a great love for the great outdoors. "He took me with him on dive trips at a very young age, where we would check on the coastal reef program across Mississippi, I guess it's always been with me. I'm glad it has stayed with me."

Other than fishing, Paul is an avid snorkeler and diver, and he enjoys nature in all forms — whether that's hiking in the Himalaya, snorkeling off the coast of Bali, or guiding fishing trips at the foot of the Mississippi River Delta — Captain Paul remains in awe, with gratitude for the world around us.

Venice, Louisiana offers some of the finest inshore fishing in the world.

Capt. Paul targets Redfish, triple tail, trout, and snapper. This is a year round fishery. Conditions are almost always ideal. Says Paul, "offshore may be blowing, and boats can't go out, but we can take csutomers inshore more than ninety percent of the time." Fall months are particulary great, winter months can be rewarding, and everyone knows about the productive fishery down here in spring and summer.

When asked why you should choose a trip with Captain Paul, he says: "I promise 100% to provide you with a can do attitude, and cheerful outlook on each and every day. We're going out to catch fish, but first we're going out to make friends and have fun … if I take care of that first part, we'll make the second one happen because good mates make for good fish trips, and that helps us put them in the boat."

He’s always happy to share his experience and guidance. Book Capt. Paul online. Arrange a trip for up to four people on his 24-foot Blue Wave. Powered by a Suzuki outboard 300, equipped with the latest in Simrad electronics, and outfitted with the best Stratus reels and Tsunami rods — Paul offers guided trips for up to six hours in one of the most productive and naturally beautiful sport fisheries in North America.

All fishing tackle is provided. Want more than one boat? We can get you as many as you need. Book a group trip today, start with Paul Miller, and let us know how many additional boats you want for your outing.

We're one of the largest charter companies operating in South Louisiana, and we also offer inshore fishing charter trips which are organized through MGFC's partners — a vetted and trusted group, of local guides, who will help you have the best days on the water.

Our inshore charters will fish waters of South Louisiana's Plaquemines Parish.

Captain Paul Miller and Scott McCrossen, of MGFC, will be your initial points of contact, and your captains will call you a 1-2 days in advance of your trip to discuss plans and weather conditions.

The beauty of fishing inshore and nearshore shallow water out of Venice, LA is in the variety, and the ability to fish most days thanks to easy access on both sides of the Mississippi River.

What to Expect

Venice is home of some of the world's best inshore fishing, and it is a destination for anglers of all skill levels.

Situated at the resourceful end of the Mississippi River Delta, and surrounded by the bountiful waters of Gulf of Mexico —  this landscape of wild marsh, and estuarine waters provides world class fishing opportunities. Get in on some sure-fire, always on, straight-out-fun times, and book an action-packed guided inshore trip with MGFC.

Many of our customers book inshore trips on the days before or after offshore charters. There's plenty to do and see, and plenty of fish to catch from one of our custom-built bay boats.

What we Catch

Redfish, redfish, redfish! with many Bull Redfish, too.

Of course there is variety. We also target speckled trout, lane snapper, sheepshead, black drum, flounder, cobia and even sharks. And the fishing here is a year-round experience. Mild temperatures in the winter months yield many fishable days, and the ability to fish both sides of the river affords us an opportunity to provide you with charter trips no matter what the conditions (on almost every day).

Springtime is for quality of quantity, and for some of those trophy trout + the redfish are always about, too.

Summer is mostly for redfish, and the later we get in the summer months, the larger those fish become.

In the fall we see a variety of species, and that's when some of the biggest bull reds lurk about.

Winter also is excellent for redfish, and being at the southern tip of the state means we're always warmer than anywhere else on the Louisiana or Mississippi coasts.

On the Day of the Trip

Trips usually last about six hours, and we generally depart early in the mornings to take full advantage of the day. We provide you with all the tackle you'll need, everything is on the boat — just bring whatever you want to eat and drink, and we'll stow it on board for you.

Fuel average is 30 gallons per day, and you'll pay the price at the dock. Live bait average is $80, and of course tips are greatly appreciated by our captains at the end of your trips — let 'em, and us know how they did.

Secure your inshore charter trips with a deposit, while booking online. $312 paid at the time of booking, balance + fuel, bait, and tipi is paid directly to your captain on the day of the charters (cash or charge accepted).

It's 3 passengers per boat for $1000; 4 passengers for $1200.

Fuel, live bait, and gratuity are additional.

Market rates on fuel and bait, tips average 20% of the charter fee.

We look forward to having you fish with us at MGFC.
