Meet Captain Barrett Ingram: At Home on Gulf Waters, as your offshore fishing guide.

Growing up in Hammond, Louisiana, Captain Barrett spent his childhood exploring the state's rich coastal waters, learning the secrets of the Gulf from his father and grandfather. That generational knowledge, passed down like a cherished family recipe, laid the foundation for what would become his life's calling.

Barrett's journey to becoming a professional charter captain began in 2010 when his father bought their first offshore boat. Those early ventures out of Venice, Louisiana, sparked a passion that would shape his future. By 2015, he had turned professional, and in 2021, he joined the team at Mexican Gulf Fishing Company, where he now runs the f/v Pale Horse, a state-of-the-art 42-ft Freeman Boatworks catamaran.

When you step aboard with Captain Barrett, you're joining a guide who lives for the thrill of the hunt — both on water and land. As an avid deer hunter, he brings that same patient, strategic approach to finding the perfect catch. "Fishing's my job, hunting's my passion," he'll tell you with a smile, and it's this dual perspective that gives him a unique edge in reading the waters and tracking down the big ones.

His most epic tale? Ask him about the time he played tug-of-war with a massive blue marlin over a tuna — and won. It's the kind of story that perfectly captures the excitement and unpredictability of offshore fishing, elements that Barrett thrives on daily.

Winter is his favorite season on the water, where he'll show you what he calls "National Geographic worthy" moments with massive yellowfin tuna. From November through early April, the cooler weather brings out some of the Gulf's most spectacular fishing opportunities, and Barrett knows exactly where to find them.

What sets Captain Barrett apart is his commitment to crafting the perfect experience for every client. "I try my best every trip to learn what customers expect from their day," he explains. "It's about being realistic while keeping the door open for those wild, unexpected moments that make offshore fishing so incredible."

A specialist in yellowfin tuna and wahoo fishing, Barrett particularly enjoys introducing newcomers to the sport. There's nothing quite like watching someone's eyes light up as they reel in their first big catch, and he takes pride in making those moments happen.

One of his favorite aspects of fishing out of Venice â€¦ is its unique geography. "Every mile south equals about 100 feet deeper," he'll tell you, explaining how Venice offers access to deep-water fishing that would require 60-100 mile runs elsewhere in the Gulf. Here, you can hit thousand-foot depths in less than 10 miles - meaning more time fishing and less time running.

When he's not on the water, you might find Barrett riding four-wheelers or spending time outdoors with family and friends. But most days, you'll find him at the helm of the Pale Horse, part of MGFC's premium Freeman fleet, doing what he does best — putting clients on the fish of a lifetime.

Ready to experience the Gulf with Captain Barrett? Book your adventure aboard the f/v Pale Horse today and discover why MGFC's repeat clients keep coming back for more.
